Candidates make virtual pitch Thursday during Kiwanis forum

FREMONT – Thursday’s Kiwanis candidates forum got testy as the two men vying to represent Ohio’s 88th District traded barbs.

Former 88th District Rep. Bill Reineke, a Republican, will face Democrat Craig Swartz and write-in candidate Robert Taylor for the state senate seat in the 26th district.

Looking to fill Reineke’s seat will be Republican Gary Click and Democrat Chris Liebold.

During the forum, Liebold said he could get to work immediately if elected, saying Click would have to deal with a pending defamation lawsuit filed against him by former senate candidate Melissa Ackison.

Click retorted, saying “Anyone can sue anybody. If he passed the bar… he would know due process.”

In one of two Sandusky County commissioner races, incumbent Republican Scott Miller will square off against Democrat and current Fremont City Council member Jim Sleek.
