Former White House strategist Steve Bannon turned on his fellow Trump ally, Rudy Giuliani, after the ex-president’s former lawyer tried to pin the Capitol riots’ blame on The Lincoln Project.

Bannon, who was pardoned by Former President Trump during his final days in office, invited Giuliani to his “War Room” podcast on Friday to discuss the Capitol riots and the upcoming impeachment process.

During the heated interview, Guliani repeated the false theory that antifa were the “wolves in sheep’s clothing” involved in the deadly insurrection. The FBI and The Department of Justice (DOJ) have said there’d been no evidence pointing to the group’s involvement.

But then Giuliani made a new allegation. The insurrection was organized by an “anonymous” person who he claimed was connected with the Lincoln Project, a Republican group that opposes Trump.

With raised eyebrows, Bannon asks Giuliani about who that person might be, saying: “OK, but who is it? Rudy, we can’t say — yo. Yo!”

Giuliani proceeds to go on a wild rant, repeating the baseless accusation as Bannon tries to interrupt him.

“Hang on. Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa—what are you saying ‘working for the Lincoln Project?’ Right-wing groups like who?” Bannon pressed again.

“I don’t know if I can reveal his name,” Giuliani responded. “Because we have that from anonymous sources. But he worked in the past for [Utah Sen. Mitt] Romney.”

Bannon then appears to laugh off Giuliani’s response before telling him: “This is why we’re getting blown up all the time.”

“You can’t throw a charge out there like that and say, ‘Yeah, I’ve got a double-secret probation guy who I can’t mention but he worked for Romney and he worked for the Lincoln Project,'” Bannon added.

Bannon has spent the last few weeks exploring baseless claims of widespread election fraud on his podcast “Bannon’s War Room”, which he recently said has racked up 29 million streams.

The former Trump ally was also among those who hyped the January 6 protest, which turned violent and resulted in five deaths, including a police officer.

YouTube barred Bannon three days after the incident. He was banned from Twitter in November 2020.

Giuliani faces a $1.3 billion defamation suit from Dominion Voting Systems, one of the country’s largest voting-machine manufacturers, for his false allegations surrounding election fraud.

In the interview with Bannon, Giuliani also said he could not defend Trump in the Senate trial because he was a witness who spoke at the rally.

The Lincoln Project appeared to laugh off Giuliani’s baseless theory, writing on Twitter that Trump’s former lawyer went from calling for “trial by combat” to blaming them for the insurrection in a matter of weeks.
