Democratic Challenger To Jim Jordan Raised Over $260,000 In Late 2019

A Democratic challenger to Central Ohio Rep. Jim Jordan raised more than a quarter-million dollars in the fourth quarter of 2019.

Shannon Freshour of Marysville hopes to be elected to represent Ohio’s 4th district, a gerrymandered district drawn to favor Republicans like Jordan. Freshour raised more than $260,000 from over 12,000 donors in the last three months of the year.

She saw a spike in fundraising after Jordan’s strident defense of the president during House impeachment proceedings.

Jordan has yet to submit his fundraising numbers, but the Federal Elections Commission shows that he received over $2.4 million in the first three-quarters of 2019.

Freshour has two challengers in the Democratic ballot on the March ballot including Plain City resident Mike Larsen, who is a retired TV writer and producer and worked on shows including The Drew Carey Show, Ellen, Reba, Real Time with Bill Maher. Jeffrey Sites of the Lima area is also the Democratic primary ballot.

Sites raised more than $150,000 from about 4,000 donors while Larsen pulled in $66,000, according to their campaigns.

Neither have submitted their contribution receipts to the FEC yet.
