New updates are being added at the bottom of this story…….
Original story (published on December 22, 2021) follows:
Halo Infinite, the latest in the long-running series and one of the most awaited games of the year was released just a week ago. Critiques have praised the game for its stunning visuals and combat.
Many say that when the match is over, they are receiving zero player scores and no credit. This is really disheartening for those who play the game every day and look forward to completing daily challenges.
And as if that wasn’t enough, players say they are not awarded any XP with reports coming in that the bug persists even though they used an XP boost.
Some thought their copy was corrupted and tried generic solutions such as reinstalling the game and verifying files, but it makes no difference at all.
Just played a game of FFA with double xp on trying to complete challenges, and I finished 2 of them. Get 10 assists and get a cumulative score of 2000 in FFA. Thank god the game decided to not count any of it. Instead it just re-did the aftergame xp from the last game i played, giving me the same rewards again. How is this bug even a thing? Confuses me as much as losing rank for a oddball win. This game needs to be fixed, i have no drive to play it when im not being rewarded properly and if its theres a chance i lose rank or have no gain for my wins. wtf
I currently have “Spoils of Sparta” (play any match), “Lone Danger” (Complete Free for All matches), and “Team Player” (earn assists in PvP). I just did a match of FFA and came in second place. It didn’t count playing any matches towards Spoils of Sparta, it didn’t count it being a FFA match towards Lone Danger, and none of my 10 assists counted toward Team Player.
Also side note, how am I supposed to do “Event Challenges” for the Winter Contingency event if I wasn’t given an event challenge to begin with + challenges aren’t tracking for me to get more?
Players say that they really enjoy the challenges and love the progression system but since nothing is tracked, they have no incentives to grind Halo Infinite FFA match challenges.
And with 343 Industries yet to say anything about the issue, it is still unclear if and when the FFA match challenge bug will be fixed. Nevertheless, we will be looking out when the developers release a patch so keep checking this space.
Update 1 (January 13)
05:32 pm (IST): FFA matches not counting towards challenges or progression issue is still annoying some players. A gamer noted that the progress/challenge was completed much later, after playing 10 matches.
Update 2 (January 28)
12:13 pm (IST): Halo Support has confirmed that the issue FFA matches not counting towards challenges or progression is resolved and no additional download is required to make it work.
An issue that caused #HaloInfinite Free-For-All matches to not show stats or reward progress towards Challenges is now resolved. No download is needed for this fix. If you’re still experiencing issues, submit a new ticket or update your existing ticket. (Source)
Update 3 (May 5)
01:57 pm (IST): Halo support on Twitter has informed players that they have deployed a backend update that allows Rumble Pit and Last Spartan Standing matches to progress FFA Challenges.
Update 4 (May 6)
03:35 pm (IST): A senior community manager at 343 Industries has confirmed that challenges should now track more accurately. Moreover, he said that there may be delays if you leave early, but progress will be recorded once the match finishes.
Also, Halo support has informed players that if they sign in before the end of the Interference event, they will receive 5 Challenge Swaps and Double XP Boosts.
Update 5 (May 7)
03:22 pm (IST): While 343 Industries previously said that the challenges should now track more accurately, some fresh reports (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7) now indicate that it still requires some work as they still do not work as they should.
