The Laramie County Board of Commissioners authorized the hiring bonus during its meeting on Tuesday, March 7.

According to the resolution, 60% will be paid upon hire and paid on the first paycheck, 20% will be paid upon successful completion of the FTO training program and the academy, and 20% will be paid upon successful completion of the probationary period.

“The starting pay for someone with no experience, when you add in holiday pay and briefing time totals up to around $62,000 a year,” the LCSO said in a news release. “Applicants with prior experience can start out making a total of almost $74,000 a year.”
