A worker has hit back at the boss over signs posted around a workplace apparently outlawing employees from having fun.
The “no-fun” signs listed a number of rules for employees to follow, including no workplace friendships and no off-topic conversations.
One disgruntled employee shared the sign to the subreddit r/mildlyinfuriating, quoting: “Work is not meant to be fun.”

In the sign, employees are told: “This is your job” before a number of demands was listed.
“Do not dedicate work time to discussion of non-work topics,” the boss wrote.
“Do not facilitate friendships during work hours.
“Exchange phone numbers and/or hang out after work is complete.”
The boss asks for people to reach out to him if they catch their colleagues partaking in “fun” at work.
A photo of a minion was also included on the sign, pointing to the rules and saying: “Work is not your day care – truth”.
The sign attracted thousands of comments, with people suggesting different ways for the original poster to respond to the boss’ conditions.
“Reply with, ‘Don’t put Minion on this poster, you’re having too much fun making the poster, and we’re not having it’,” one suggested.
“And when you’re sick, and the manager asks what’s wrong with you, (say) ‘sorry Karen, I’m not allowed to discuss personal stuff with colleagues’,” another wrote.
A third suggested: “Yeah, I’d just enjoy my non-work conversations and wait for them to fire me, so I can take them to court.”
Others said it was impossible for the boss to rule out fun, claiming that employers are sometimes the main culprit.
“That’s hilarious. Good luck enforcing it,” one wrote.
“I think my boss initiates non-work related conversations more than anyone in the office.
“And my co workers and I pretty much communicate exclusively with GIFs on Teams.”
A second said that having fun at work could improve efficiency: “At my workplace, when we’re having more fun, we work harder and enjoy being alive.”
Another boss jumped on the post and insisted: “It’s my policy that if you’re not having fun, you’re doing it wrong.
“We went from the bottom 10 per cent of our stores to the top 10 per cent and my (staff) turnover has been zero per cent for two years.
“People don’t want to work for a**holes.”
