In what many already suggest is a woke step too far that will become a snitches’ charter, regulators are on the verge of introducing a change to the profession’s code of conduct that will require firms and individual lawyers “to treat colleagues fairly and with respect, and not to engage in bullying, harassment and unfair discrimination”.
The Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA) is also gearing up in the next few weeks to publish guidance pointing out that it can “take action to manage risks arising from an individual solicitor’s health issues at any point, including at admission stage, and through conditions on a practising certificate or registration”.
