PALM BAY — Summer is coming, and with it come also bored school children who will miss friends, socialization and structured activities. Well, we’re in luck!

The City of Palm Bay’s Recreation Department has open registration currently for summer fun!

Summer Camp

Summer Camp registration began in April and is still open now. Summer Fun Camp is for kiddos ages 6 to 12 and will have sports, games, trips, specials, outdoor time, reading time, and more!

Camp will be weekly, Monday to Friday, from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., unless otherwise posted. Parents may drop off or pick up at any time within that time frame. There will be no camp on Monday, May 29, or Tuesday, July 4, due to holiday observations.

Camp fees are $90 per week, plus the cost of trips or specials. Trips are mandatory in 2023, but specials are optional. Space is limited and registration is on a first come, first served basis, so sign up now! Spaces are only guaranteed once a payment is made for that week.

Registration will be online at PlayOnline.PalmBayFlorida.org and closes at 5 a.m. on the first day of that session. Registration forms with emergency contacts, allergies, and additional information will be through an online database, ePACT, and an email invite will be sent once registration is completed. Registration paperwork must be filled out in full before dropping your child off at camp.

Discounts are available to those eligible. Children of current city employees receive a 25% discount. If your child receives Free/Reduced Lunch, a 25% discount will apply. If your child receives EBT Food Assistance, a 50% discount will apply.

Parents must provide a copy of their driver’s license and documents showing parents’ and children’s names. Discounts cannot be combined, only the highest eligible discount will be applied. Discounts are off camp fees only; trips and specials are excluded.

Please email summercamp@pbfl.org for questions about payment or to have your discount applied to your household before registering for camp.

For more information, please contact either camp: Tony Rosa Community Center at (321) 952-3443 or 1502 Port Malabar Boulevard NE, or contact the Ted Whitlock Community Center at (321) 952-3231 or 1951 Malabar Rd. NW. in Palm Bay.

Swim Club

The city will also be offering Spring Swim Club! Registration for this club also opened in April and is currently ongoing. Swim Club is for kids ages 7 to 12 and will run for four Saturdays from May 13 through June 3 at the Palm Bay Aquatic Center.

Announcement

Sessions for ages 7-9 will run from 9 to 9:45 a.m. Ages 7-9 must be able to swim a full 25 yards non-stop in good condition to sign up.

Sessions for ages 10-12 will run from 10 to 10:45 a.m. Ages 10-12 must be able to swim a full 50 yards non-stop in good condition to sign up.

The cost for swim club is $45 per child. Please note that the State of Florida requires special certifications in order to teach swim lessons to special needs clients, such as those with autism, down syndrome, or others. None of our instructors are currently certified to teach children with special needs.

Registration will be done online at PlayOnline.PalmBayFlorida.org. Registration will be taken online only, and space is limited. It is advised that you log on and create your online account in advance of the registration date to give you the best chance of claiming your spot.

For more information, email the Aquatic Center at swim@pbfl.org.

Kids to Parks Day

Lastly, celebrate Kids to Parks Day this Saturday, May 20, with your Palm Bay Recreation Department!

Celebrated annually on the third Saturday of May, Kids to Parks Day encourages kids and families to get outside and create their own adventure in our local parks.

We have a full day of activities planned at several different locations throughout the city. visit www.PBFL.org/KidstoParks to view a full list of the events we have planned.

If you can’t make it out to one of our events, explore some of Palm Bay’s 31 parks, two community centers, senior center, aquatic center, wildlife sanctuary, nature center, skate park, or dog park on your own! Visit https://www.palmbayflorida.org/government/city-departments-f-to-z/recreation/city-parks to see all our parks and their amenities.
