A downtown development complete with restaurants, shops, a movie theater, a comedy club and a large hotel are coming to Royal Palm Beach. Now, village leaders and the developers say they’re excited people in Palm Beach County’s western communities will have more fun things to do and places to shop.A 41-acre downtown area will be constructed over the next two and a half years on a 200-acre plot of land south of Southern Boulevard and west of State Road 7. The developers say some companies are still in bidding wars to become tenants on the property, which is called Tuttle Royale. However, developers say some large companies have already committed to opening new locations in the development. He spent 10 years buying property in this area, and he approached the village of Royal Palm Beach in 2016 with his idea. At that point, village leaders wanted to move forward with the idea.After some council meetings where the area was annexed by the village and zoning ordinances were adjusted, the final site plans were approved by the council last month.When the development is complete, there will be about 50 tenants and 1,600 residential units in the Tuttle Royale property.Restaurants that will be at Tuttle Royale include Cheesecake Factory, Ruth’s Chris Steak House, Agave Bandido, Arigna Irish Pub and Coal Fire Kitchen, Mana and Mojito, North Italia and Oak & Stone. Bowlero and Strike 10 Bowling are in bidding wars to purchase space for a bowling alley.The restaurants, retailers and entertainment venues will surround a three-acre park.”What it will be a park with a lot of activities surrounded by high-end retailers and great quality restaurants,” said Tuttle. “Every month there will be a different activity (at the park), like one month we’ll have bounce house month, once we’ll have a Christmas Tree event just like Delray Beach, one we’ll have an autumn festival- We’ll have outdoor ice skating rinks. Every month we’ll be setting up a new activity to draw people in, and because this park will be so active and so many people will be dropping in, the retailers really bought into it, and the restaurants really bought into it … because this park will be so active and so many people will be dropping in, the retailers really bought into it, and the restaurants really bought into it … The park is the centerpiece, and what you do with the park drives the rest of the center.”Tuttle Royale’s plans include a three-story building where the first level is the comedy club, the second floor is the bowling alley, and the third story is the movie theater. It will be a place where you should be able to feel safe. It will have all kinds of options … It’s part of saying, ‘Hey, the western communities are growing,’ and the kinds of things they would always have to go east for they’re now coming out to at the western communities … Overall, I think it will add to the, believe it or not, the hometown quality of the village in terms of people in the village doing things together … What we’re looking at with Tuttle Royale from a big-picture standpoint is to provide entertainment, a family entertainment option, for our citizens and other citizens in the western communities so that they don’t have to go all the way down to West Palm Beach to have that kind of entertainment opportunity.”The mayor says he doesn’t think the center will lead to extra traffic in Royal Palm Beach since more roads are being constructed and the center is already on the outskirts of the village.”This is on the outskirts of the village.
