County fairs offer something for just about everyone.
And, if you are in need of another reminder of that, you need look no farther than Brooke Hills Park in Wellsburg. That’s where the Brooke County Fair will be held.
Set to run Friday through Sunday, the annual event will feature a wide variety of food, games and entertainment.
The weekend will include a cutest baby contest, queen competition, live professional wrestling, dog demonstrations, demolition derbies and mud races, as well as the annual tug-of-war contest for the county’s grade schools.
There will be musical performances, a mud volleyball tournament for middle school students, a pizza-eating contest, as well as appearances by the WVU Mountaineer and the Washington Wild Things mascot.
And it all begins at 4 p.m. Friday, with activities to include ax throwing, battlefield archery and more along with the opening ceremonies at 5:30 p.m. to feature a live butterfly release.
Janice McFadden and Patty Lish are co-chairs of the event. They, members of the fair board and many other volunteers have worked hard to ensure this year’s fair is a success.
The Brooke County Fair is a great community event, and one that deserves the support of residents from all parts of the Tri-State Area.
