Whenever Apple hosts an event, it’s almost like they’re handing out comedy invitations to the entire internet. With each product launch or announcement, the tech giant unwittingly steps onto the virtual stage, and the internet’s comedians rush in with punchlines at the ready.

It’s become a hilarious tradition where Apple takes the spotlight, and the online world gladly provides the laughter.

Just as predictably as the changing seasons, every year’s iPhone launch event transforms into a well-intentioned eco-conscious TED talk, and this year’s assembly was par for the course.

Amidst the buzz surrounding the USB-C cable introduction, Apple managed to sprinkle a touch of humor into the mix. The punchline?

They served cookies—yes, cookies—individually wrapped in see-through plastic at their ‘carbon-neutral’ event!

“Apple gave us cookies at the event. They were so good,” he wrote.

Unaware of the jest that would follow, he innocently posted, setting the stage for internet users to once again mock Apple’s environmental concerns and their reasons for certain product choices.

Before long, the comment section was flooded with sarcastic remarks and trolls. One user even quipped,

“That’s 100% carbon-neutral biodegradable plastic with 80% similarity to the biodegradability of paper. Apple is on track to increase its biodegradability to a whopping 130% by the year 2025. That’s a 25% increase in the biodegradability of apple cookie plastic wrap year after year. Apple will be the first company on the planet to increase the biodegradability of its plastic past 100% by the end of next year.”

Another one took a dig at Apple and wrote, “Plastic is made from 100% recycled materials making it carbon neutral.”

One more user weighed in and wrote: “iCookie – available for pre-orders starting September 22nd. They skipped it in the key note folks. But it’s real.”

“Why doesn’t Apple care about nature by giving cookies in plastic wrap? Is it only on iPhone and charger?” wrote another.

So, we have to wonder: did Apple just serve us a side of cookie-crumb hilarity in their quest for a greener image, or are they simply cooking up new ways to keep us entertained?
