CHEEKTOWAGA, N.Y. (WIVB) — Parents are concerned about the safety of their kids in a new indoor playground in Cheektowaga and are calling for stronger operating procedures there.
This comes after a chaotic scene unfolded there over the weekend.
News 4 has received several complaints about fights breaking out Saturday night at Fun City Adventure Park in Cheektowaga. The indoor playground has been open for only one month.
But, parents we’ve heard from are concerned about what they saw there a couple days ago. Parents we spoke to do not want to go on camera.
Video on Saturday night shows dozens of kids inside Fun City Adventure Park in Cheektowaga running to the exits. It all stems from complaints of fights breaking out there that same night.
Cheektowaga police say officers responded to calls for help around 8:30 p.m. not only to respond to the fights, but also for a report of shots possibly being fired. That report of gunshots thankfully turned up false.
Police say when they got on scene, everything was under control.
Teens inside were told to leave, without incident and they were picked up by either their parents or took an Uber home.
When News 4 visited the indoor playground Monday night, it was business as usual. A supervisor inside, who did not want to go on camera, told us there were just a few fights that broke out and indicated they were no big deal.
But some parents who say they were at Fun City Saturday night tell us they feel the business was not operating safely with so many kids inside. News 4 reached out to the management at Fun City for a comment but have not heard back.
