WTF’s Aliya Garozzo Earns Penn Athletics Student-Athlete of the Week Honors
Announcement

PHILADELPHIA – Instrumental in leading the University of Pennsylvania women’s track and field team to its seventh Ivy League Heptagonal Outdoor Championship, senior Aliya Garozzo was named Penn Athletics Student-Athlete of the Week presented by Acme.

Garozzo took care of business in both of her individual races on Day 2 of Ivy Heps, winning the 100m hurdles with a PR time of 13.59 and setting a new program record of 56.34 to win the Ivy title in the 400m hurdles.

She also anchored the 4×400 relay, the final race of the day, with the Ivy Heps team title on the line. With Princeton re-taking the lead and making its final handoff about 10 meters ahead of Penn, the lead seemed to grow on the back stretch. Garozzo made the final turn and turned on the jets in the final 200, securing the win in the race AND the meet.
