A woman in New York City’s liberal elite just beat the most influential conservative culture warrior at the far right’s own game: podcasting.
When Amy Poehler started her talk show podcast Good Hang, she promised to follow in the footsteps of the many male comedians who came before her and put in “the bare minimum” on the way to inevitable success. Within our lifetimes, the podcasting sphere has become the #1 platform for people (men, mainly) who feel that what they have to say is simply too brave, insightful and boundary-pushing for traditional forms of media – also they just got booted from Fox News for allegedly being too racist, an achievement that was previously thought to be impossible.
Poehler adopted the podcast talk show format used by men in comedy, politics and all the messy little niches in between and became an instant star, earning the first-ever Golden Globe for Best Podcast earlier this month. But Poehler, while putting in her self-estimated 25-percent effort, isn’t resting on her laurels – no, since she took home the trophy, Good Hang has only continued to climb in the charts for most-streamed podcasts on the internet.

Right now, Spotify has Good Hang at #2 on its top streaming charts as Poehler blasted past some of the most established names in the Manosphere podcast network. While other streaming trackers have Good Hang in their #3 spot, it’s clear across the board that Poehler’s podcast is now officially more popular than The Tucker Carlson Show, proving once and for all that nobody is safe from the woke agenda:

Obviously, Poehler isn’t actually the hyper-woke polar (heh) opposite of Carlson, seeing as her show is centered around having silly conversations with celebrities while his is about spreading anti-immigrant disinformation and pro-Russia propaganda. Poehler is not a particularly political for a comedian with a podcast, which is exactly why the meteoric rise of Good Hang is so important.
Along with Carlson, Poehler pushed right-wing figures like Theo Von and Candace Owens further down the charts with Good Hang. While only the most optimistic, Leslie-Knope-like fans could ever believe that she will unseat Joe Rogan from his throne atop the podcasting business, the mere fact that a woman can shoot to the top 2 in a conservative-male-dominated field without becoming a political provocateur is evidence that, maybe, we don’t need to write a Constitutional Amendment banning podcasts from the country.
“Good to know more people like positive info instead of hate, fear and lies,” one fan commented of Good Hang‘s success in an Instagram post about the podcast ranking.
Another said of Poehler’s ascension, “A return to kindness and laughter.”
“This feels like America is healing,” one more commenter added.
Poehler certainly didn’t start a massively popular podcast with the intention of breaking the far right’s stranglehold over the medium, but, now that she’s demonstrated that comedians can crack the Spotify top five without kissing the President’s ring, perhaps other decorated women in comedy will throw in their 25 percent and inadvertently wipe Carlson completely off the leaderboards.
