PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WJAR) — The Diversity Business Exhibit hosted their fourth annual conference at the Rhode Island Convention center Friday, welcoming roughly 100 vendors and 700 guests to interact with each other, and foster sustainability in the business community.
The event featured a job fair, free legal clinic, and panel discussions — one of them moderated by our anchor Karah Bailey.
Event founder Doris Adesuyi says the conference helps re-energize the economy.
“Businesses, especially underrepresented businesses, and professionals of color needed something to get excited about,” she says. “We often have to go to New York, Boston, or these big cities for conferences like this, and we are creating one. This is home grown, right here.”
If you missed Friday’s free exhibit, you can still connect with many of the featured business owners during their ticketed Networking Reception at the Elms in Newport from 5 to 8 pm Saturday.
