Honoring Hispanic and Latin Culture in Multnomah County
Announcement

PORTLAND, Ore. — Next week Multnomah County is honoring Hispanic and Latinx community members, at a time when many are saying they’re worried about racial profiling. Diego Bazaba works for the Multnomah County Health Department. He says there’s still a lot of fear about deportations and family separations.

“When families question whether it is safe to go to work, send a child to school, seek medical care, appear in court, report a crime, or access public services, the wellbeing of our entire community is affected.”

Multnomah County’s Hispanic and Latinx Heritage month runs from September 15th through October 15th. You can hear about this topic on Sunday morning at 7 and at 1:30 PM,  on Speaking Freely with Annette Newell, on KXL.
