Nine hundred thirty-four fans of Star Trek simultaneously performed the Vulcan salute at the Science Museum in London, setting a Guinness World Record. The gathering took place on September 8, 2026, coinciding with the 60th anniversary of the science fiction series.

To validate the attempt, participants had to correctly form the iconic “V” with their fingers and hold the gesture for one minute. Guinness World Records confirmed the record’s approval on September 11.

The event was organized as part of “Star Trek Lates,” a special evening at the London museum created in collaboration with CBS Studios and Paramount. Dressed-up fans, community members, and curious onlookers gathered under the watchful eyes of referees tasked with counting the compliant gestures.

The salute, with the palm facing forward and fingers separated between the middle and ring fingers, is closely associated with Spock. Leonard Nimoy introduced it in the episode “Amok Time,” which aired in 1967, drawing inspiration from a Jewish priestly blessing he observed during his childhood.

The London attempt was part of a series of global events celebrating six decades of Star Trek. Visitors to the Science Museum could also explore items related to the franchise and participate in activities highlighting its influence on science and popular culture.
