Belfast comedian Paddy McDonnell will bring his new stand-up show, Gout’s Out, to Dolan’s in Limerick on Thursday October 22, as part of a nationwide autumn tour.
McDonnell, who began his comedy career in 2011, quickly found himself supporting established acts such as Des Bishop and Ardal O’Hanlon. Since then, he has built a strong following across Ireland and the UK, known for turning everyday observations into comic anecdotes.
His new show sees the comedian reflect on getting older, coping with gout, and the challenges of still trying to act like a younger man, whether through boxing or raising his children. Much of his material draws on his years working as a taxi driver, as well as stories from married life and fatherhood.
The Limerick date forms part of a run of shows McDonnell is bringing around the country this autumn, giving audiences outside Belfast a chance to see the material that has built his reputation at home.
McDonnell has released five solo shows to date. His 2015 production, Dagger, was a standout of that year’s Belfast Belly Laughs Festival, selling out its run and earning five-star reviews.
A regular on the Belfast comedy circuit, McDonnell has hosted the Empire’s “Belfast Laughs Back” comedy club and holds the distinction of being the first comedian to perform at the West Belfast Féile on six separate occasions. He has shared stages with the likes of Frankie Boyle, Jason Manford, Patrick Kielty and Andrew Maxwell, and has previously sold out headline shows at major Belfast venues including the Limelight, Ulster Hall, the Waterfront Hall and two dates at the SSE Arena.
Gout’s Out comes to Dolan’s, Limerick, on Thursday October 22.
