Investigators said the case highlights how advances in technology can be used to exploit children. Police emphasized that using artificial intelligence to create the images does not make the conduct any less serious or less criminal.

The Stuart Police Department said detectives will continue investigating cases involving the use of technology to facilitate the exploitation of children and will pursue those responsible.

Anyone with information about the exploitation of a child is urged to contact law enforcement.
