Mark Consuelos is back to work after a successful toe surgery last week, and his wife Kelly Ripa is sharing some hilarious details about what happened afterward.
Consuelos, 55, made quite an entrance when he returned to Live With Kelly and Mark on Monday, September 28, while riding a scooter, per People.
“I made it!” he declared as he arrived onto the stage on a small scooter decorated with orange tassels and a nameplate.
Consuelos admitted that he wasn’t sure he would be ready to return to work so quickly following the surgery, which he previously described as a “major” procedure.
“You know, we were giving the over-under whether or not I’d be here,” he said. “I thought for sure there was a 90 percent chance I wouldn’t be here.”
Ripa, 55, went on to recount her husband’s post-surgery “propofol haze.”
“You were snoring so loud that everybody was concerned for me,” Ripa recalled, adding that medical professionals offered to move her to another room. “I said, ‘I’m fine. I’m totally fine. I think it’s more important that he rest.’”
Once Consuelos began waking up, the confusion set in. “The first thing you asked is, ‘When are they taking me to do the surgery?’ And you asked that about 30 or 40 times,” Ripa shared.
Ripa added that she reminded her husband that the procedure was already finished. “I said, ‘It’s over. It’s done.’ And you said, ‘Did they get it? Did they get the whole thing?’” Ripa recalled. “And I was like, ‘Yeah, they got it,’” referring to the “bone spur.”
At one point, Consuelos, who was still under the effects of propofol, hilariously asked Ripa who she was.
“And then finally you looked at me and said, ‘Who are you?” Ripa shared. “And I said, ‘I’m your wife.’ To which you replied, ‘No.’”
Ripa found the exchange hilarious, assuring her husband that temporarily forgetting who she was was perfectly fine. “I was dying,” she added. “Anybody in the room — there was a lot of laughter happening.”
