—@laurenmorrill

4. “I was in labor. I was young and crying. The nurse said, ‘Shut up! You’re not the first person to have a baby!’ I stopped crying, and then I said some things. When I finished, she was crying and was no longer allowed in my room.”

He went on with the appointment. At the end, he came back to it, saying, ‘Go up to the front desk, and they’ll give you your spanking.’ I reported him to the medical board, and we never returned.”

—@midwifebethany

10. “I told the doctor that I thought my husband’s red, tight, warm, and hugely swollen leg could be a blood clot. He told me that I ‘watched too much House,‘ and it was clearly a bug bite. Spoiler alert: It was a huge blood clot caused by an abdominal tumor pressing on the vein. That tumor was metastatic from lung cancer. He died 10 months later.”

Definitely not the right reaction to someone’s very difficult and very personal decision.”

—@leahcriz
