QuickSaw Co-Founder Lee Sang-won Venture Partner
Jikbang Co-Founder Seok-hoon Recruitment of EIR
Enhancement of Investment Expertise and Strengthen Support for Startups
Mashup Ventures, an early start-up investment company, announced on the 15th that it has appointed partner Park Eun-woo as vice president (CIO, chief investment officer) and recruited Quixo co-founder Lee Sang-won and Jikbang co-founder Seok Hoon EIR (Entrepreneur in Residence). The appointment was made to enhance investment expertise in future core technology fields such as deep technology and defense, and to support the successful global expansion and scale-up of portfolio companies.
Vice President Park Eun-woo has experience in engineers, venture capital, and deep tech startups and has hands-on experience from both investors and founders. When he was a judge at Bon Angels Venture Partners, he made his first institutional investment in medical AI company “Vuno” and AI autonomous flying drone company “Near Lab,” and joined Neare Lab as the CSO (Chief Strategy Officer) who executed the investment, leading to more than 30 countries around the world and attracting 30 billion won worth of investment. Niers Lab has passed a preliminary review and is about to be listed on the KOSDAQ.
Vice President Park, who returned to the initial investment ecosystem by joining as a Mashup Ventures partner in 2023, is striving to find promising technology startups by executing an initial investment of 40 billion won so far. In the future, it will oversee the overall Mashup Ventures investment system based on its own investment perspective and deep technology expertise.
Lee Sang-won, a venture partner, is an entrepreneur who co-founded “Qeexo,” a deep tech company based on machine learning, in Silicon Valley and sold it to global electronics giant TDK, and plans to actively help portfolio companies enter the U.S. market (GTM) and attract follow-up investments in the future. The joining of this venture partner is considered an exemplary virtuous cycle of the ecosystem in that the founder, who grew up with the initial investment of Mashup Ventures, is intended to help the junior founder.
Seok Hoon EIR is a former certified public accountant at Samil Accounting Corporation and a serial entrepreneur who led the large-scale growth of several companies such as “Jikbang” and “Hauser.” Seok EIR was a co-founder of Zigbang and CSO who led the company’s growth and scale-up process, and since then, he has directly implemented key growth stages of companies, including investment attraction, business operation, M&A, and PMI (post-acquisition integration) as CFO of many companies. Based on his solid capabilities as an accountant and entrepreneur, he will closely support the establishment of practical management and financial strategies for early start-ups.
Lee Taek-kyung, CEO of Mashup Ventures, said, “At a time when the discovery and growth of deep tech startups is more important than ever, we expect Vice President Park, who deeply understands both technology and business, to lead Mashup Ventures’ initial investment direction more sharply,” adding, “As talented people with global start-ups and large-scale organizational scale-up experience have joined, we will strengthen our portfolio company’s all-round support system more firmly.”
Meanwhile, Mashup Ventures established the first AI partner in Korea’s VC in March and recruited a serial entrepreneur from a builder through EIR, strengthening its AI investment expertise and portfolio company support system. With the addition of this personnel appointment, deep technology investment expertise, portfolio companies’ global expansion, and business management strategy support are expected to create greater synergy.
