The evening, produced in partnership with Smit Show Comedy, promises a high-energy lineup led by Los Angeles-based headliner Kiry Shabazz. Shabazz, a former winner of the StandUp NBC Competition, is widely recognized for his relatable storytelling and a standout late-night debut on “The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon.”
The show is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. and tickets cost $25. Proceeds benefit the Sonoma Community Center.
While currently based in L.A., Shabazz has deep ties to the region, having launched his comedy career in Northern California.
Serving as host for the night is Cody Smit, the founder of “Smit Show Comedy,” and a regular at San Francisco’s world-famous Punch Line.

Known for his self-deprecating wit and sharp crowd work, Smit’s comedy series has become popular in the North Bay. Joining him on stage is Sean McKenzie, an emerging talent in the Bay Area comedy scene. McKenzie said he delivers “smart jokes” with a “big, dumb smile.”
The event also highlights a charming local connection. “Valley Laughs has been a popular addition to events at the Center,” Cat Smith, director of marketing at the center said. “Cody is my cousin, so this is really a Smit and Smith production.”
Beyond the entertainment, the night serves a vital community purpose, with all proceeds benefiting the center’s local programming. “They have become a local favorite over the past three years, drawing enthusiastic repeat audiences from throughout the region,” Smith said.
Valley Laughs is a 21+ show in Andrews Hall at the Sonoma Community Center, 276 E. Napa St. Doors open to the “Laugh Lounge” at 6:30 p.m. for ticket holders to purchase adult beverages. Tickets are available for purchase via the Sonoma Community Center website or by calling 707-938-4626.
