Laugh out loud, delicious dread and leaps of faith in theaters

In the new upcoming series on Prime, Bear Grylls throws a few cast members from The Chosen into cliffs, canyons and full survival chaos. Let’s just say faith gets a full-on adrenaline test.

On the movie side, audiences have an interesting selection from which to choose. A high concept rom com, a feel-good documentary, a prank happy comedy sequel and a very creepy ice-cream nightmare.

From Eli Roth, the man behind Hostel, now comes Ice Cream Man. Needless to say, it’s Rated R. The premise is about a picture-perfect summer town that spirals into a nightmare when yes, an ice cream man starts handing out treats with terrifying consequences.

One Night Only, Rated R is a romantic comedy starring Callum Turner and Monica Barbaro. They portray two strangers trying to find love on the one night of the year where premarital sex is legal. This is from the same studio that years ago brought you the purge.

Also Rated R, Super Troopers 3 brings back the prank-happy Vermont State Troopers at the center of the cult comedy franchise.

The Chosen in the Wild with Bear Grylls takes the cast of The Chosen out of biblical drama and into full survival mode. Jonathan Roumie, Paras Patel, Elizabeth Tabish, Noah James, Luke Dimyan, and creator Dallas Jenkins join Bear as he pushes them through rugged locations some of those locations include Utah’s castle valley and canyonlands, the Great Basin Desert, and the Adirondacks. Along the way, they jump from planes, scale cliffs, zipline over canyons, and even eat scorpions.

And on a lighter note, I asked Bear during our interview: once the wilderness started wearing everyone down, who turned out to be the funniest?

“I think Luke Dimyan was really good fun, you know. He’s…and then Noah. I think Noah was great. Paras Patel, and all of them had funny moments. I think Jonathan has got a really wicked sense of humor as well. And if you, as you know, if you adventure with someone over a day in the mountains, you get to see all sides of people. And I love that it’s sort of connections and bonds and friendships and adventure and faith. That’s a really nice sort of package. And uh, that’s why I feel this series is special.”
