Luka Doncic Hosts Lakers Roster in Slovenia for Preseason Minicamp

Luka Doncic is entering a new era with the Los Angeles Lakers following LeBron James‘ departure to the Philadelphia 76ers. The upcoming campaign will be Doncic’s third season in Los Angeles, and expectations have never been higher with the Slovenian superstar as the franchise cornerstone. General manager Rob Pelinka retained Austin Reaves on a long-term deal while surrounding Doncic with experienced veterans and complementary pieces designed to maximize his playmaking. The front office added Collin Sexton to strengthen the backcourt, Walker Kessler to give the team the rim-protecting center Doncic had wanted and Sandro Mamukelashvili to bolster the frontcourt rotation.

Doncic is now doing his part to accelerate that process before training camp even begins. According to ESPN’s Dave McMenamin, the Lakers star will host the entire roster in Ljubljana, Slovenia, for a four-day minicamp in August.

The itinerary is expected to include team workouts, golf, sightseeing around Ljubljana, and several bonding activities designed to build chemistry ahead of training camp.

The minicamp is another sign of Doncic fully embracing his leadership role. Since joining the Lakers, he has averaged 31.9 points, 8.1 assists and 7.8 rebounds in 92 games. With James now in Philadelphia, the Lakers will rely on Doncic more than ever as they pursue another deep playoff run, and he is expected to enter the season among the favorites for the NBA MVP award.
