Worcester County Fair wraps up 63rd year of family fun | News

SNOW HILL, Md. – The Worcester County Fair held its final day Sunday, bringing everything from pop-up shops and games to animals and horseback riding to those in the area.

The fair returned this weekend, connecting people for its 63rd year at the John Walter Smith Park in Snow Hill.

The fair had tons of games and vendors for people to check out, including a small booth where they could drop a line and do some fishing.

While the fair has been taking place for more than 60 years, this year also brought something new: a Turkey Calling Competition. Also featured were musical performances from the Boogiemen, a Livestock Costume Contest, and a horse show.

Steven Zelechowski said when it comes to family fun, a county fair is perfect for a hot summer day.

“Gives ’em something fun to do and keeps ’em out in the sun for a little while instead of sitting inside during the summer,” Zelechowski said.

Of course, the county fair featured animals, as well as bouncy houses for families to enjoy.

Jen McDaniel says she loves the fair because affordable family fun is hard to come by nowadays.

“The kids see lots of cool things; they’re playing with the axe throw right now. They’ve been around the loop twice, they’ve gone fishing, they’ve gotten Kona Ice, so they’re having a really good time,” McDaniel says.

When looking for a little summer fun, sometimes the best memories are made right at home.
