Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and longtime love Riley Roberts have called it quits.
On August 11), TMZ confirmed that the 36-year-old Congresswoman has split from the web designer. Puck‘s Chief Washington Correspondent Leigh Ann Caldwell, who was first to report the news, says that AOC and Riley actually split roughly two years ago.
The pair usually kept their relationship very private, and only made one public appearance together at the 2021 Met Gala. A year later in May 2022, AOC confirmed that she and Riley were engaged. At the time, she revealed that Riley popped the question while they were in Puerto Rico.
The two met as undergraduate students at Boston University, and have dated for several years. They met at BU’s Coffee & Conversations in 2011, a student town hall. They later broke up after school when he moved back to Arizona, and they rekindled their relationship in New York.
News of the split comes just one day after AOC revealed she is freezing her eggs and documenting her journey, which she admittedly described as “very daunting.” In her video, she made no mention of Riley as she spoke about the process.
